A specific class of these polyphenols are called anthocyanins providing the bright red-orange to blue-violet colors of many fruits and vegetables. The high concentration and unique combination of both blue and red anthocyanins give Adaptive™ New Zealand blackcurrants their deep purple color. Adaptive™ anthocyanins are also more bioavailable than other fruit anthocyanins due to their specific rutinoside structure (Watson et al. 2015).
